Transferring a domain name from one registrar company to another traditionally entails the use of a special domain authorization code, which different companies refer to as an EPP authorization code, a domain password or an AuthInfo code. This code can be used as a safety mechanism against unauthorized transfer attempts with all gTLD and with most ccTLD extensions. It can be obtained only by the owner of the given domain and is issued by the current domain registrar company. It must be given to the new domain name registrar company because the transfer cannot be started without it. The code is case-sensitive and traditionally contains numbers and special characters, so as to impede unauthorized individuals from cracking it. Some domain name registrars even change the codes of domain names registered through them periodically for even better security.

EPP Transfer Protection in Shared Hosting

If you’ve got a Linux shared hosting, you’ve registered a domain name with us and you’d like to transfer it away, you can obtain its EPP transfer code with no more than a couple of mouse clicks. When you log into your Hepsia hosting Control Panel and navigate to the Registered Domains section, you’ll see all the domain names that you’ve registered with our company displayed in alphabetical order. To the right of each domain, you’ll notice a mini EPP icon for all generic and country-code domain extensions that require a code in order to be transferred between domain registrars. Clicking on the icon will email the code to the domain name owner’s email address instantaneously. In the same section you can also find and ultimately change the email address, if the one there is not valid any longer.

EPP Transfer Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

In case you’ve got a semi-dedicated server account with us and you’ve registered a domain name that you’d like to transfer, you can obtain the EPP transfer authorization code really easy through the Hepsia Control Panel, via which you will manage both your account and your domains. If you visit the Registered Domains section, you’ll see an EPP symbol next to your domain names, provided that their TLD extensions support transfers between registrar companies with such a code. All codes are sent automatically by our system to the registrant’s email address to ensure that only the domain name owner can get this information. In case the currently entered email address is not valid anymore, you can edit it with several clicks without needing to leave this section of the Control Panel. The update is instantaneous, so you’ll be able to request the EPP code for the specific domain name straight away.
